Just got a UTV (2008 Polaris Ranger 700 xp) and I don't know shit about this stuff.

Odyssey ODS-AGM30L looks like it will fit the stock battery box I've got in there, but I haven't seen anyone mention it as a good replacement in my online searches... Makes me a little nervous.

Looking for the best battery I can get WITHOUT having to mod. Want to drop it right in there and not have to mess around. Just for use around my property.

I have been using Odyssey batteries for quite some time. They have worked well for me, and last many years but they are pricey. This one (PC925L) fits my 2011 800 Ranger and my old Sportsman 700, not sure what fits your 700. I have the 1200 in my 2018 1000XP.

Looks like the one you mentioned is similar in size to the one that fits my 800.

Think the newer Rangers might fit a bigger battery with the stock configuration.

My battery box is only 6.75"L x 5.25"W x 6.50"H

PC925L is 6.60"L x 6.90"W x 4.70"H

Guess I could turn it on its side and it would fit...

What about the Yuasa GYZ32HL battery?
If it were between that one or the ODS-AGM30L, is one objectively better?

...not really sure what all the specs relate to functionally.

I looked on Odyssey site and it says the AGM30L is an upgrade for the AGM28. I didn't compare the dimensions but yes you can use these dry cell batteries in any position. My newer 1000XP definitely much bigger battery box and is underneath the seat. I figured the 2011 800 battery box might be similar to the older 700 but not sure. I don't know which brand is best, only know my experience with Odyssey batteries and they have been impressive so far. My older Ranger sits for weeks at a time before use and I never put a battery tender on it but it always starts. I'm thinking the 925 in it is 6 or 7 years old. I don't have a very good picture of it, but you can see how it is oriented in this picture.

Greetings all, I also use the PC 925 L ( L meaning orientation of + and - terminals). As has been discussed ad nauseam in archived threads the high dollar AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries have a particular set of needs as compared to wet cell batteries. If not observed and adhered to you may shorten the batteries life span. I am particularly referring to how it is charged. The little Battery Tenders that trickle charge are said to be detrimental to the AGM style of batteries. There are chargers specifically designed to monitor, charge, and hold an AGM. I personally use the Noco Genius 5. Also for your 08’ the battery requirement would be the same as my 07’ xp. And yes they can be positioned according to the need with no ill effects. Good luck, Alan
